95 an hour Under the supervision of the Planning Director, the Planning Assistant plays a pivotal role in the growth and future of MCCAA and by extension our ability to meet our mission to lift individuals and families out of poverty.
This position is both strategic and operational.
The position is responsible for managing internal and external communications while increasing the visibility of the organization through effective community involvement and multi-media approaches.
The position projects the image of the organization by writing the story of the agency and its clients.
The ideal candidate will be a self-started with excellent written and oral communication skills.
SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB:
1.
Assist with the development and implementation of a master branding plan for the agency 2.
Assist with Internal and External Public relations campaigns 3.
Primarily responsible for photography of agency events and business as outline in communications plan.
4.
Assist with implementation of annual strategic communication plan.
A.
Public information activities for the Agency.
This includes but is not limited to:
a.
Monitoring state and federal agency websites to find additional ways to promote agency and to stay aware of current issues related to community action agencies.
b.
Make regular posts to multi-media sources including social media through press releases, success stories, and agency events/opportunities.
c.
Review any communication submitted to the public in the form of flyers, brochures, etc.
d.
Contact local newspapers with press releases and board meeting information.
e.
Inform public of agency closure through proper communication channels including social media, agency website, and local media as applicable.
B.
Enhancement of the reputation and visibility of the Agency at a local and state level.
This includes but is not limited to:
a.
Participate in social media campaigns that highlight agency b.
Implement strategy to increase awareness in counties where MCCAA has low visibility.
C.
Virtual communication, including the content for the Website and social media.
a.
Monitor and post to social media regularly, which includes Facebook, Twitter, etc.
as applicable.
b.
Obtain and file all required content and photo releases.
5.
Create and maintain a media database for service area, including resources for Metropolitan Nashville area.
6.
Maintain positive relationships with local news media.
7.
Production of quarterly newsletters, brochures, flyers, and other printed communication materials as directed.
8.
Research of social, demographic, and other topics as directed 9.
Assist with planning and hosting agency events and activities 10.
Coordination of donor and volunteer appreciation events or activities 11.
Other activities as directed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
Education:
An Associate's Degree or higher with a focus on Communications, Publics Relations, or Organizational Leadership is preferred.
Experience:
This position requires 1-2 years' experience in Communications, Public Relations, or non-profit work.
